iPod Classic?

Hi everyone! Today, I'd like to ask you all a few things about the new iPod Classic. I'm planning to purchase one in September.

If you could talk about one or all of these points, it'd really help me out.

- Does it scratch and mark up easily?
- How is the battery life?
- Do you find it easy to use?
- Is it hard getting the most out of movies when you're watching it on the iPod Classic?

I wouldnt get the ipod classic, because it contains a hard drive. The thing is if you shake it too much it could break. i would recommend getting the ipod nano or the touch because they have flash memory instead of hard drives.

It does scratch easliy, but all ipods do
it has up to 8 hrs of life
yeah its really easy to use
i havent put movies on mine yet

if you dont want it to scratch buy a cover for it when you buy it they dont cost that much.

1.No
2.Excellent
3.Yes
4.Sometimes

yes it does mark up easily...the battery life is great....sometimes i find it easy to use....yes it is hard getting the most out of movies...i would recommend an ARCHOS it is way better than an ipod...the ipod is not even worth all that the reason u pay so much is cause of that apple logo on the back...you can buy a 160 GB ARCHOS for the same price of a 80 GB ipod...ipod just isnt worth all that money..

-Yes its scratches pretty quick but not as bad as the older models. Just take care of it.
-For me the battery life is pretty good, but some have conflicting results. I think the whole issue with battery life is a bit overblown.
-Yes it is very easy to use and very easy to put music on it.
-Well the screen is small, but i find that for personal use it has a satisfactory performance.

1) All ipods scratch fairly easily so it is recommended that you purchase a protective case. I suggest you get a case that is not from the company apple because it will be cheaper that way.
2) according to the website the battery life for audio is 30 hours and video is 5 hours - but personally that may change depending on the usage. Most of the time it is less than what it says on the box.
3) Yes i find it very easy to use. Once you know how to work one ipod you can basically control them all with a few clicks of your thumb. It also comes with instructions for first time users so don't worry about a thing.
4) It is difficult to get the most out of movies from a small screen but definitely the classic is better than all of the other ipods, with the exception of the ipodtouch (larger screen that can be titled sideways). That said the classic does have stereo audio capabilities for movies and a good fram rate (not pixelated)

What is the difference between the Ipod classic and Ipod video?

Dude its like the exact same thing isn't it. Except the ipod classic has the half screen thing. Should I trade in my Ipod video 30gb for an ipod classic. If so, why is the classic so much better.

All iPods (except the shuffle, of course) now play video, so there is no longer any reason to distinguish the iPod classic as a video-playing iPod.

Your iPod video occupied the same place in the iPod product matrix as the new iPod classic. They are essentially different versions of the same product. The iPod classic is just newer, slimmer, higher-capacity, and has a less-glossy but very attractive finish. It also has a 6G interface, which sports CoverFlow and some visual enhancements.

The iPod classic comes in 80GB and 160GB configurations: it's designed to be big enough to (in principle) support ALL your photos, music, podcasts, video podcasts, and several full-length movies at once. Compare the 80GB iPod classic to the next-biggest iPod Apple sells, the iPod touch in 16GB or the iPod nano in 8GB---it's a huge difference.

I can see no downside to upgrading from a 30GB iPod video to an 80GB or 160GB iPod classic, unless you don't like the interface on the 6G iPods. I'm ambivalent about them: on the one hand it shows a lot of polish, but on the other hand, whenever I see the 'split screen' effect in the menus, it looks wrong to me. Call me a purist. But if I owned one, I suppose I would get used to it, and everything else about the interface is really nice.

Still, your 30GB iPod video isn't that much bigger than the 16GB of the iPod touch, or the 8GB iPod nano. If your music library is already larger than will fit on your iPod, and you're managing it manually, consider that an 'upgrade' might be to trade some of that space for a smaller-capacity iPod with a nicer interface (like the touch) or the very small iPod nano.

Ultimately, it will be up to your budget and preferences to decide.

The iPod video is actually called iPod with Video. They named it Classic, so it would have a suffix like the rest of the ipods (shuffle, nano, mini, touch, etc.)

The main differences are the UI, the disk capacity, and the aesthetics of the device.

The difference is that you wont be able to watch videos in the classic one.

What's the difference between Ipod classic and Ipod video?

I need a detailed comparison. Please give me a difference such as, supporting video formats, or ability to play video, etc.

If ipod classic can play videos, why is ipod video so expenxive? Can Ipod classic play videos? It seems it can but it doesn't make any sense.

ipod classic is the new version of the ipod video. if you look on apple website
http://www.apple.com/ipodclassic/
there is no more production of ipod video it is called ipod classic

ipod video is better

iPod Classic is a video iPod. All new iPod nanos, iPod Classics, and iPod Touch play video. The important differences between the nano and Classic are going to be in the size of the hard drive and screen. The iPod touch is basically an iPhone, without phone service -- you can surf the web on it with a wi-fi connection.

Should I wait for the iPod Classic 7th Generation to be released to buy an iPod?

I currently have a 2nd Generation iPod Nano with 4GB. I ran out of space and I need to buy a new iPod. When do you think the new iPod classic will be released? Is it worth the wait, or should I just buy a 6th Generation?
Also, I'm planning to buy this in a few months when I will have extra money. My friend said that perhaps the 7th generation will come out sooner because of problems with the 6th.

i have an ipod touch 32gb. it is pretty awesome. but if you only want the classic. they just came out with the new one like four months ago. i think that you should go ahead and buy the 6th generation

i think you should get the ipod touch. i love mine!

jus get an i touch

nope it will be 2 expensive!!!!!!!!!!!

How will I know that a new iPod Classic is compatible with one of my old iPod rechargers?

I'm planning to get an iPod Classic, and the only thing I was curious about was that I wanted to make sure that some of the older iPod accessories could be plugged into the new iPod. Such examples are iHome, iHome 2.0, etc. Can anyone help? Thanks, your answers are always a great help!

Hello Britcop Jim,

I have no idea, but it might help if you brought your iPod rechargers with you to the store and ask the store clerk if you can try them with their display iPods. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

What is a usual price for Ipod Classic Video 80gb and what are the risks buying it used?

Im just wondering what is the typical USED price for electronics more over mp3 players like Ipod Video Classic?

When did an Ipod Video Classic come into market?

Whats apples warranty on these ipods?

Well it depends on the condition if it's used.A new one is approximately $250.There really are no risk to buying it.

When is the release date of the Ipod Classic 7th Gen?

When do you think will the Ipod Classic 7th Gen be released?

Because im planning to buy one but it has been a year since they released the Ipod Classic 6th gen. And i can't wait for what's in store for the next ipod classic.

Sometime in August or September Steve Jobs and Apple will hold an upfront conference to showcase the new iPods and updates. The new iPods are somtimes released for purchase at that time or a couple of weeks later. Keep checking news sites through the summer to check when Apple will launch and released the new iPods.

What is the difference between a 5th generation apple ipod classic and a 5.5 generation classic apple ipod?

I am thinking about getting either a 5th generational ipod or a 5.5 generation ipod classic. What is the difference? Any experience with one or the other or possibly both? Which one should I get? Thanks!

The 5th gen and 5.5 gen are essentially the same, but the 5.5 gen has a brighter screen and it also includes a small search function (to quickly find songs/albums/artists/etc. on the iPod).

The classic is 6th gen. It's got a slightly different design (more rounded) and the screen designs are a little different.

The main difference between the 5th and 6th gens is the space. 5th gens hold 30GB or 60GB, and 6th gens hold 80GB or 160GB.

Good luck choosing =D

set your ipod to "manually manage music" and just drag the songs that you want onto your ipod (while in itunes).

The Top 10 Gadgets of the Decade ABC News

The past decade has delivered a bounty of consumer electronics that make our lives easier, keep us connected and ensure that we're endlessly entertained.

But a few have gone above and beyond, altering the way we organize, experience and share our daily lives.

Here are 10 of the gadget world's greatest hits from the past 10 years.

The iPod

The digital music player was already on the scene when Apple introduced the iPod in 2001. But it wasn't exactly hyperbole when Apple CEO Steve Jobs said, "Listening to music will never be the same again."

The iPod -- and its signature white earbuds -- quickly became a cultural icon. But its impact was hardly cosmetic. Along with iTunes, the iPod popularized the mp3 player and changed the music industry forever.

Stacks of CDs? Gone. Trips to the record store? Gone.

Apple made buying music, TV shows and videos as easy as logging on to your home computer and clicking your mouse a few times.

In 2007, the company announced that it sold its 1 millionth iPod unit, making it the bestselling digital music player of all time.

And the iPod has come a long way. Since the original iPod that could hold 1,000 songs, Apple has updated the model nearly every year, expanding the line to tiny workout-friendly Shuffles and Nanos and, of course, the iPhone-like iPod Touch. The current iPod classic (the model closest to the original) can hold 40,000 songs.

The BlackBerry

They're known to be so addictive that they're often called "CrackBerries."

Research in Motion's highly popular BlackBerry mobile device was first introduced as a two-way pager in 1999, but the now-common BlackBerry smart phone was introduced in 2002.

The handheld devices, which were initially the gadget of choice for executives and jetsetters, let users send and receive e-mail, access the Internet, take pictures, make phone calls and more.

As the price dropped, their popularity surged, and BlackBerries found their way into the hands of everyone from urbanites to college students to stay-at-home moms.

When President Barack Obama ascended to the White House , he famously fought to keep his precious BlackBerry , despite national security concerns and a tradition of e-mail-free presidents.

Though the launch of the touchscreen iPhone challenged its share of the smart phone market, BlackBerry has held its own with an easy-to-use keyboard and sophisticated office applications and security features.

Product Review: iSkin eVo3 and eVo4 Cases for iPod Classic Blogcritics.org (blog)

ISkin was one of the first manufacturers of lightweight protective functional skins for Apple's iPod, and they are working constantly to improve and upgrade their products about as often as Apple upgrades theirs. Hubby and I both have 160GB iPod Classics, and are always on the lookout for new and improved cases that are compatible with our Altec Lansing InMotion speaker dock.

Both cases retail for about $35. The eVo4 Duo case for iPod Classic is a two-piece case with a silicone skin and a light aluminum front piece, along with a detachable movable clip. The skin itself is tight and not easy to get on, but molds well once it's on. The front piece is another story. While the instructions make it seem that the cover just easily clips on to the skin, it took some time and much playing around to get the visor cover on properly. I ended up taking the clip off as it is not very sturdy and is too bulky to allow the iPod to fit into the speaker dock.

The eVo3 is also a two piece case, but is a bit different, with a full face guard that even covers the click wheel. While the website says multiple times that the thin silicone click wheel cover does not affect use of the wheel, that is not the case. There is definitely less sensitivity with the full face guard on. And again the clip is pretty much useless and too bulky to use with the speaker dock.

While these cases are good options, I wish that more thought had been put into clip and click wheel function. After all, a skin is not easy to take on and off for different uses, and the clip is definitely not easy to remove and replace as needed. If iSkin would fix these two features these eVo skins would be perfect.

Flexio solar powered FM radio is paper-thin, doubles as a book mark Geek.com
Radio, I find something nostalgic about it: just sitting down in a pool of sunlight by the window, cracking open a book and setting the old transistor on a local station.

Something about the Flexio solar powered FM radio really appeals to me, then. It’s a proof of concept by a small handful of designers (Wu Kun-chia, Wang Shih-ju, Chen Ming-daw and Liou Chang-ho). The Flexio is a portable FM radio juiced by sitting in the sun, manufactured by printing it. The idea is that when it isn’t in use, it can just fold into a book as a bookmark.

It appears that the Flexio team is primarily looking at marketing this at individual radio stations as promotional items: since there’s no real gadgetry in the Flexio, let alone room for a tuner, each radio is tuned to a specific frequency, so each radio station would need to give its listeners its own.

I tend to doubt I’d ever use the Flexio — it probably doesn’t sound very good, for one — but I love the concept. It would make a great gift for my NPR-loving girlfriend.
